Thank you! I can't wait to see what I can provide for Omnishadow! ^_^

Ok; Half-Indepth Review.

This was overall a nice piece, because of it being halfly-soothing; but I think you could have been a bit more diverse and perhaps added a piano or something like that as the melodic piece.

It got slightly repetive after a while; But it's not that bad really; just that alot of people will dislike that.
It aint the worst Ambient i've heard; but you still some things you would want to learn

So; I guess you use FL after I heard some standard effects? And what samples do you use?

(Check out my new song if you get the time, Its a forest theme, and my second remix)

beatmasterJAG responds:

Thanx for the review...
I agree about the redundency-I didnt think each individual notation pattern was that many bars until i looked at the size of the file. lol I actually had to remix and size it down.

And its funny you mention the piano bit, I was gonna do that but i don't know what happend?! *takes notes*

My prog, lol, NOT FL, I cant stand FL for some Reason. But I did use basic filtering and phasing. No sampling, pure raw synth :)

Nice Song; Fellow Norwegian.

Ok; I'll rate this comparing it to the works of some of the other classical composers here at NG.
(Me not included).

First off all; The beginning was giving you the attension you wanted. Whilst when the tremolo strings entered. You were wanting more (that is good) the spiccato's as well kept this to a classical piece, and not action music for eventually some kind of movie (but i dig that)

I did not like the pause between the two parts; because that just seems like you dont want to make a proper fill-in.

But overall; Its a nice piece. I've heard alot like it; But when composing classical.
You need influences somewhere, and I can understand that.

The only thing I was missing was more or less some kind of climax (I had my hopes for one of those when the drumrolls came in, and some horn played)

Ok; I've reviewed.
Check of my music if you want fellow Norwegian.
Jeg vil ønske deg et godt nyttår :)

Metalcan responds:

Hei, fellow Norwegian! Thanks for the super cool review. I totally understand what you're saying, but I really haven't finished this song. The only thing I intended to use was the beginning, which is also what I worked the most on. I'll be sure to check out your music later. I've been working my ass off lately so now I need to rest. ;) Godt nyttår!

Speedmetal, Have my babies.

Ok; This song is with no doubt your best, and it even won you the fifth place of the week :)
(congrats)

Ok, I was originally not gonna review anymore of anyone's stuff, But you'll be my exception.
This was, as usual really great, and i saw nothing wrong with it.

It even improved when you tuned it down :)
Heavy shit!

speedmetalmessiah responds:

Haha thanks for the bitchin' review buddy.I was suprised it got 5th but I think it's awesome that it did.

Thanks for deciding to keep reviewing my songs man means a lot.

Thanks again.

RPG Material

Ok, In general, I checked this out because you reviewed one of SolarLunar's songs, And I saw your name.

Had a nice feeling to it, However, You need more soft strings, and better samples.
Sounds a bit lo-fi.

The flute is well played.
You had some basic elements from Seiken Densetsu 3, You might not have heard of this game, but the music is similiar to this song at some points.

(Thats a good thing)

What sample-liberaries did you use? (soundfonts, vsti's etc etc)

You got some talent, And I suggest you do not let it fade. Anyways, For further discussion, do you have MSN?

DavidOrr responds:

Thanks for the in-depth review. Right now I am just using a Yamaha S03 keyboard, although I am going to purchase either Reason 3.0 or Pro Tools very soon. Thanks for the review!

(sorry, I don't have an MSN account, if you wish to contact me you can email me at davidorr@davidorr.net)

I liked this song.

The piano, was not that advanced in the beginning, but it did what it was supposed for.
The ambiance should have been a bit tuned down at volume, and in general not so clear, creating a little mystic theme in it.

The drums was a nice touch, but at some point made the song too full of sounds, Great mixing though, and nice use of effects.

This was overall one of the better pieces on newgrounds, And i liked your melody on this one.

SolusLunes responds:

I'm glad to hear that you liked it. It was much fun to make. Okay, I'm lying, it sucked to make, but the end result was worth it.

Here we go.

You treat yourself like a god, you think you outclass everyone at NG, and you called one of the best classical composing people at NG for a retard, I'm telling you, You're not gonna be loved.

Ok, the intro gave this song alot of promise, but then you added a instrument, that actually sucked, because it was not tuned correctly.

And what is up with that ending? It just stops, and wind continues.

The percussion is good, probably the part i liked the most about your song, You still need better samples though.

Ok, Summary, Get better samples, dont treat yourself as a god of music, because honestly, you are not.

cheesemonkeybill responds:

hey guess what? FUCK YOU!

i'm not trying to be "loved" or whatever the fuck. the synth is fine, it just has a fifth applied on a different layer. i didnt fuck up the tuning, i made it that way on purpose. i dont give a fuck about classical composers, cuz classical music sucks HARD BALLS. its for pussies and people with fucked up gray wigs from like, the 1700s, dumbass! FUCK YOUR FUCKING FUCK.

Seven, Strict.

Ok, First of all.
I hate that f..erhm, fuzzing in the background.
The acoustic solo sounds decent in my ears, but you shouldn't have a that big space between each part/riff.

It's good guitarplaying, better than i could do.
However, I'm a pianist create symphonic pieces, and orchestrated epics.

Anyways, It had some of the same touches as Yngwie Malmsteen, just not that advanced.
Are you inspired by his acoustic solo?

AngryWinky responds:

Yes sorry about that...shitty mic + messing up on the compression = fuzzy buzz.
Meh...what can I say...it was improvised.
I am greatly inspired by Yngwie Malmsteen...he's a genius...if I ever get within a mile of becomming as good as him I'll die happy. Glad you liked it.
(*Just a note: I hate this fucking "song" now...I really liked it when I hadn't slept for 30+ hours...but after I slept and became sane again I was disgusted when I listened to it.)

Your final review as well.

Yeah, First of all.
I'll give you some the stuff i heard with this song.

-The backing instrument is like, a violin or something? It should either be contrabass along with french horn, or a tuba.

-Second of all, the slow thing, it went a bit TOO slow for a epic battle, but it is brilliant for your second song in reason 3.0.

The drums need a bit tweaking at volume, as they was far too high volumed.
And once again, a bit more reverb, not drowning them, but just adding a touch.

That gives a fairly good effect.

The bass drum was not too particulary fit in the song, and i would have used a timpani or a more ethnic drum instead.

Good violin/Viola melody through the whole song.
It got alot of diversity, and change alot.
Thats a good thing.

However, It is using the same chords, making it sound very samiliar at the same time.
At the intro, there was a bit of dissonance, which should be in an orchestrated piece.
HOWEVER, not as easy noticed at that.

I do feel sorry for you in a matter, because there might be some guys who will accuse you of self downloading.
I mean, even you must understand that a double platinum or diamond, worth nothing.
if not earned through time, reviews and fan's.

I'm giving you this review, because i found it cruel to only give your brother a last one.
I did in particular like this piece, and its with NO doubt, your best.

You might even beat me now, But i wont let you steal my title that easy, even if im retiring ;)

-Christian Sandviknes-

Sebby-man responds:

Thanks for revieing, I will consider all your ideas. The backing instrument is just a low strings. My intention was not to make this whole song battle like, but kind of like preparing for a battle, then getting into a battle, then something good happens, then victory, and then a new battle arises. I decided to summarize all the emotions in my song as battle related, therefore calling it "the Battle!"

Unfortunatley, ill never know how many downloads my song really has

Kings & Kingdoms, Knights.

Good progression at the beginning, and it buildt up tension quite well.

Now the drums kicked in, oh god, i love those things :0
The atmosphere is so good, The violins keep my attension, and its such a powerful piece.

This is probably one, if not THE best piece i've heard from you, and believe it or not.
I've heard everything on your webpage.

It had tension and everything needed all the way.
It had some of the basic elements that hans zimmer use in his songs.

also, Edgen.
Are you at MSN? Because it does not show at your web page, its the only thing that aint appearing.
You might not respond this time, but im quite prepared for that.
If you have msn, mind telling me the adress by email? Zellion@gmail.com
(Just so you wont get spammed.)

I'm creating an album now for a web page, and if you would help me on this, i'd be forever grateful, and will do anything to repay you at some point.
-I am also leaving NG very soon, so you'll have this whole place for yourself :|
I'd appriciate it if you at least sent me a email

Thanks on advance. And if there's anything i'd like to add. Its my birthday today! Be nice!

-Christian Sandviknes-

Edgen responds:

Christian, THank you sooo much for the kind words! I'm glad you liked the piece. If you like this one.. Goto my website. I've got a "KNIGHTS v2" now online which is an extension of this piece. www.edgen.com/music
